In the frame of the International Nutraceutical, Cosmeceutical, Functional Food & Drinks and Health Ingredient Trade Exhibition (NUCE) held in Milan between September 25th and 27th, Prof. Wahli chaired a scientific session entitled “Omics approaches in nutraceutical science”.
At the occasion, Prof. Wahli held a talk on the beneficial effects of the active nutrigenomic ingredient Lipid metabolism® on energy metabolism in mice, as an example of nutrigenomics approach in research.
Indeed, a study held in his research group at the Center for Integrative Genomics at the University of Lausanne showed that mice fed with this combination of 26 micronutrients showed reduced weight gain and body fat, as well as increased energy expenditure. Moreover, Lipid metabolism® conferred partial protection against atherosclerosis and fatty liver (1).
